We believe that community begins with a strong dose of open-heartedness.  Our perspective is informed by a South African term called Ubuntu.  Ubuntu is a beautiful, wise and very old concept.  At its most core level, Ubuntu can be interpreted as “human kindness” and yet it means so much more.  It has inspired our community to embody compassion, commitment and connection as a way that we show up for each other and those that we serve.

We know that real change begins with one person taking personal responsibility to bring their best self into the world, which inspires others and ultimately shapes a community.  We are the guides and you are the difference.

One of the sayings in our country is Ubuntu – the essence of being human.  Ubuntu speaks particularly about the fact that you can’t exist as a human being in isolation.  It speaks about our interconnectedness.  You can’t be human all by yourself… …you are connected and what you do affects the whole world. When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity.
